Voter ID

From 2023, all voters in England are required to show photo ID to vote at polling stations - this includes the upcoming General Election.

We know that some of you may not have access to a photo ID BUT worry not! We have a few ways around this for you.

Click here to view the full list of accepted photo ID. It’s key to note that you can still use your photo ID if it's out of date, as long as it looks like you. The name on your ID should be the same name you used to register to vote.

If you don't have accepted photo ID, you can apply for a free voter ID document, which is known as a Voter Authority Certificate. It’s completely free and you’ll need to this in advance of the Election. The deadline to apply for a Voter Authority Certificate is June 26th.

Please remember that to apply for one, you must have registered to vote! The deadline to register to vote is June 18th.

Free Citzen Card

Another way you can apply for voter ID is to apply for a Citizen Card. As students, you’re now able to apply for a FREE citizen card through NUS.

Anyone can get a voter ID from Citizen Card (usually £15) for free using the code ’NUS’ here.
