UCLan Moves+ is the free-to-use physical activity app for UCLan students and staff. It is an online platform that tracks your activity, rewards your efforts, and challenges you to reach your goals.
Moves+ rewards you the more you move and over time, your logged activity is then converted to points that you can exchange for rewards - anything from a coffee, traybake treat, soup and a roll or a UCLan hoodie and much more.
According to the published research, just 30 to 40 minutes of mild to vigorous physical activity every day appears to reduce the association between sedentary time and reduced lifespan.
MOVES+ will help you to keep motivated, set up some friendly competition and feel rewarded for the activity you do.
There are a range of challenges you can sign up to, including running, swimming or walking. For each of these you can choose your level of activity - either easy, moderate or hard. So, whether you are walking, running, cycling or swimming, you can earn points for keeping active.
How does it work?
If you download and set up the Moves+ app it will track existing activity you are doing, and the more you do the faster you will accumulate rewards. But even if you’re not a regular hiker or gym goer, your moves will be logged as your walk across campus or take a trip to the shops. The app even links to Fitbit, Strava, Garmin, Google Fit and Apple Fitness+ to automatically track your activity.
