Wellbeing Wednesdays organised walks

If you are keen to get out and about, meet fellow students and colleagues from across the University and get more fresh air, then our wellbeing Wednesdays walks are being organised on and around our Preston Campus.

Taking place on (TBC – 12th March)(meeting on the Student Square), between 12 midday and 1pm, the walks are designed to boost your physical and mental wellbeing.

The Walk Leader will guide you through scenic routes of Preston and offers numerous benefits for both students and staff members. These walks provide a chance to reduce stress, improve physical fitness, and enhance mental clarity.

If you are interested in getting involved, you can register your interest by completing this this Microsoft Form or you can turn up on the day.

When: 12th March 12pm-1pm, meet at Student Centre

Badminton

Playing badminton offers several wellbeing benefits. It improves cardiovascular health, boosts stamina, and enhances muscle strength and flexibility. The nature of the game helps reduce stress and anxiety, while the social aspect promotes a sense of connection and teamwork. Regular play can improve coordination, reflexes, and focus, contributing to better mental clarity. Additionally, badminton provides an enjoyable way to stay active, boosting overall mood and encouraging a healthy lifestyle.

When: 9th April 12pm-2pm STFSC Sports Hall 2

Boccia

Boccia is the most inclusive sport you’ll find, and it provides fun for all the family! It can be played by anyone regardless of age, gender, ability, or disability. Boccia is a target ball sport. From a seated position (and therefore ideal for wheelchair users) players propel balls to land close to a white marker ball – the jack. If you’re unable to grasp and propel a ball a ramp can be used.

When: 9th April 11-12pm STFSC Studio Blue

Floorball

Floorball is a fun sport which blends the gameplay of ice hockey with some elements of field hockey - but is low contact, indoors, uses a ball instead of  puck and we don't play on ice!

When: 12th March 12pm-2pm STFSC Sports Hall 1

9th April 12pm-2pm STFSC Spoers Hall 1

Table Tennis

Table tennis (also known as ping-pong) - is a sport that can be played and enjoyed by everyone, which is why we have put on these specific sessions inclusive for everyone. Whether you have played before or not, table tennis is a fun and exciting game.

When: 12th March 11am-12pm STFSC Studio Blue
