At the Working Wardrobe, we believe in the power of a good first impression.
Our project is dedicated to supporting university students navigating the challenging cost of living crisis by providing access to high-quality, second-hand interview clothing to ensure a level playing field for all.
What We Do: We collect donations of professional clothing and make them available for free to students preparing for job interviews. From suits to shoes, and everything in between, we ensure that no student has to worry about the cost of looking their best when it matters most. We are committed to being as inclusive as possible and stock clothes to suit a variety of genders, sizes and styles.
Why It Matters: Job interviews can be daunting, but we’re here to help boost confidence, ease the financial burden and help tackle the growing sustainability issue of “fast fashion”. By offering appropriate, yet stylish clothing, we empower students to make a positive impact and take one step closer to achieving their career aspirations, all while keeping clothes out of landfill sites.
How does it work:
Students can take home one outfit, which can be brought back and swapped for other items should they wish, as long as they’re in good resalable condition. This ensures our whole process is fully sustainable and circular, in keeping with the Students’ Union and University values
Students will need to provide evidence of an upcoming interview to access the project.
Location and opening times:
The Working Wardrobe can be found on the ground floor of the Students’ Union building and is open every Tuesday from 1pm-4pm.
Get Involved: Whether you’re looking to donate or in need of interview clothes, the Working Wardrobe is here to support you. Join us in making a difference and helping students succeed.
Together, we can turn the power of clothing into opportunities and success. Welcome to a community where looking good is made accessible for all.
If you would like to donate clothing, please bring it to the Welcome Point on the ground floor of the Students Union building.
Volunteering opportunities include:
Front of House Volunteers - Front of House Volunteers are responsible for ensuring students accessing the project have a smooth and enjoyable experience. You will be responsible for helping students select the items they require and keeping the space tidy and presentable.
