The Advice Service is not registered to provide advice relating to immigration or visas so you should contact sictsupport@uclan.ac.uk


As the Advice Service is part of Students’ Union we are independent from the University so do not have access to university systems or student records, so cannot check this for you.

You should speak to your Module/Course Leader or Academic Registry.

Whichever campus you study at, you can contact Academic Registry via email or phone. The team will then advise whether you need a face-to-face appointment, a Teams appointment or a follow up call.

We recognise that some with some queries you might prefer face-to-face support, so we are also available in the following locations:

Visit the Registry at PrestonWe are open for drop in Monday - Friday in the Student Centre, and we offer face-to-face appointments daily.

The Advice Service do not have details of properties to rent, but would always suggest that you rent from one of the landlords that is registered with University Accommodation Service.

You should firstly discuss this with your module leader and can also ask them about student coaches in your school. Wiser can also offer support.

  • Drop-in and speak to the WISER team in the Preston Campus Library (Room 302 on the third floor) or in Burnley Campus Victoria Mill (Room 109) if you’re after some quick advice. Check the drop-in session schedule before visiting.
  • One to one tutorials if you need more time to privately chat and get feedback on a short extract of writing. Book an appointment on the relevant campus page and upload your work beforehand.
  • Workshops for those of you who prefer to learn in a group. WISER have regular timetabled workshops at all our UK campuses throughout the year, both face-to-face and online. See what is coming up and book in advance.
  • Downloadable online resources available 24/7 if you like to study or read in your own time.
  • Study Skills Peer Support Community a student-led Microsoft Teams site moderated by WISER staff. The WISER community is a place for you to support each other with academic skills queries and share techniques or tips for studying successfully. Join the community.
  • School based support if you feel many students on your course would benefit from support with specific academic skills. First speak with your lecturer and then contact your school lead for academic skills development who will work with WISER to arrange group sessions.

If you are looking to change courses you should speak to your current course leader and the leader of the course you are thinking of changing to see if this may be possible.

The information on interrupting you studies is on the student hub. Please note you need to be logged on to your student account to access this but you should discuss this with your Course Leader firstly.
