Grad Ready is our new awards scheme that will help you to stand out from the crowd and shine in the workplace.
Grad Ready will ensure you track the skills you are developing as a student volunteer and can help ease applying for future opportunities.
The scheme rewards you for the engagement you have with the Students’ Union and allows us to give back to you. You can record hours from a whole range of Union activities that will help you gain and develop new skills.
There are four levels to the awards scheme:
Bronze – 30 hours
Silver -- 60 hours
Gold -- 90 hours
Highly Commended – 100+ hours
You will start off aiming for your Bronze award and then see how far you can go!
You can start the Grad Ready award in any year of your degree - it is never too late or too early to develop essential employability skills and experience that employers are looking for!
Any work can be backdated 12 months from the time you start your Grad Ready Award, so if you start the scheme in your second or third year and volunteered with us before, we’ll add these hours onto your award as long as it was within a year.
This award is a fantastic opportunity for you to gain recognition for the time you give to your fellow students and the Students’ Union.
What activities count?
- Being a Social Sports Volunteer
- Being a Course Representative
- Being a School President
- Being a Society Committee Member
- Being on Students’ Council
- Being part of a volunteering project
Any time that you dedicate to these roles such as attending training, planning meetings etc can be banked towards your award tiers.
We will ask you to log your activities and then reflect on the transferable skills you have gained from each activity.
The Volunteering team will provide feedback for you at your Gold Award and provide evidence of your volunteering to future employers.
