Watch out Hollywood, the real awards season is about to hit UCLan with the 15th Annual Golden Roses Student Lead Teaching Awards.

Each year, we ask students to nominate UCLan Staff members for several awards to celebrate the hard work of staff, as well as helping us to understand what a quality student experience at UCLan looks like from the students’ perspective. This year we are also celebrating School President of the Year, Course Representative of the Year and Academic Society of the Year at the awards to show the importance of partnerships between University Staff and Students.

If a staff member has shone ‘bright like a diamond’ – nominate them. If a department has been ‘simply the best’ – nominate them. If a School President or Course Representative has been your ‘bridge over troubled water’ – then nominate them – because we want to know!

The categories for this year’s awards are:

• Lecturer of the Year
• Supporting the Student Experience Award – for Non-Teaching Staff 
• Course Team of the Year
• Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion Award
• University Service of the Year – for Non-Teaching Departments
• Academic Support Award – open to Teaching Staff and Student Coaches
• Outstanding Assessment and Feedback
• Postgraduate Support Award
• Excellence in Employability Award
• Student Voice Award
• School President of the Year
• Course Representative of the Year
• Academic Society of the Year
• School of the Year

The Golden Roses nominations open on February 26th and close at 12pm on March 27th. The Preston Awards will be presented with an extravagent evening awards ceremony in our SU building on April 16th. We hope to have the shortlist announced shortly after the nomination close date.

The Golden Roses also extend to our Burnley and Westlakes Campus but with a bit of a twist!

Our Burnley and Westlakes Golden Roses offers students the opportunity to nominate their favourite staff members for 3 awards for each campus!

We will be hosting our Burnley Campus Golden Roses with the following Award Categories:

• Burnley Lecturer of the Year - Nominations will also be combined with the UCLan Golden Roses Lecturer of the Year award
• Burnley Above and Beyond Award - Nominations will also be combined with the UCLan Golden Roses in the Supporting the Student Experience Award if non-teaching nomination or the Academic Support award for teaching staff
• Burnley Student Voice Award- Nominations will also be combined with the UCLan Golden Roses in the Student Voice Award

The Burnley Golden Roses nominations open on February 16th and close at 12pm on March 14th. The Burnley Awards will be presented with a lovely lunchtime awards ceremony in Burnley on March 26th at 12:30pm. We hope to have the shortlist announced shortly after the nomination close date.

• Westlakes Lecturer of the Year - Nominations will also be combined with the UCLan Golden Roses Lecturer of the Year award.
• Westlakes Wonder Award - Nominations will also be combined with the UCLan Golden Roses in the Supporting the Student Experience Award if non-teaching nomination or the Academic Support award for teaching staff.
• Westlakes Student Voice Award- Nominations will also be combined with the UCLan Golden Roses in the Student Voice Award.

The Westlakes Golden Roses nominations open on February 16th and close at 12pm on March 14th. The Westlakes Awards will be presented with a lovely lunchtime awards ceremony in Westlakes on March 28th at 12:30pm. We hope to have the shortlist announced shortly after the nomination close date.
