For the first time the event’s history, the annual sporting competition between UCLan and Edge Hill will be a three-day sporting extravaganza.

It kicks off with both the Women’s and Men’s Rugby Union which will take place at Preston Grasshoppers on Monday 24th March, before we move on to Sir Tom Finney Sports Centre on Tuesday 25th for the Men’s and Women’s Basketball.

The bulk of the action will take place on Wednesday 26th March when up to 19 fixtures are completed across six venues.

The Rugby Union on the Monday will be a ticketed event – for just £5 you can purchase a ticket that includes bus travel to and from Preston Grasshoppers, with the first 200 in attendance receiving a limited-edition Varsity Bucket Hat.

Tickets will be available to purchase in the coming weeks – make sure you pay attention to which bus you need to get – they will leave at 4pm and 6pm. There will be a bar open at the venue with alcoholic and non-alcoholic refreshments available to purchase, there will also be some catering.

Tuesday’s Basketball will be run on a less formal first-come, first-served basis at Sir Tom Finney Sports Centre. The Women’s match is due to start at 6pm, the men will get underway 8pm.

Wednesday will see most of the fixtures take place with Badminton and Volleyball getting things going at Sir Tom from 11am, while small-sided football gets things going at UCLan Sports Arena from 12pm. Swimming, Trampolining, Boccia and Pool will also take place at various venues across the city.

The competition will reach its climax at Sir Tom Finney Sports Centre on the Wednesday evening in the potential “winner-takes-all” Futsal match that gets underway at 4.30pm and will be followed by the Varsity Trophy presentation.
