The UCLan Women in Surgery Society is aimed at supporting medical students, especially women, who are either curious about a surgical career or are set to pursue it. Surgery is usually a male-dominated career choice, and we want to help bridge that gap. We are here to provide some invaluable resources to help you build your surgical portfolio and get some hands-on skills training. Here's what our society can do for you : 1. Mentoring Schemes - have your CV periodically reviewed by women surgeons in the field of your interest and receive advice to make it better. 2. Surgical Skills workshops - learn and practice a range of surgical skills, ranging from the most basic to advanced, taught and delivered by training surgeons and senior clinical students. 3. Research opportunities - become a part of ongoing research papers or learn how to network and find the right research opportunities for yourself! 4. Speciality-specific talks with renowned surgeons from across the globe. 5. Anatomy tutorials and OSCE workshops to help you every step of the way :)
