Aims and Objectives as International Rep:
- Represent our community's views to improve our university experience. Whether you are struggling with university life, your mental health or anything else, my role is to support you in exploring all the opportunities provided by the university. My goal is to address any issues you may be facing in students council/academic board meetings, and work together to improve the facilities available to us as students.
- Work with the equality and diversity team to organise international festivals to give you the opportunity to share your cultures and languages with other students on campus.
- Raise an awareness campaign surrounding the inclusion of BAME, LGBT+ and disabled community. To promote good relations, nonjudgmental/nondiscriminatory mindset by encouraging participation of underrepresented groups in public life. I wish every individual to be proud of who they are!
- To frequently reach out to international students via social media and email to get to know your struggles and concerns. I am also open for friendly chats if you wish; just get in touch with me!
- To work closely with the representatives of clubs, societies/course reps and volunteers to promote multiculturalism, cross cultural diversity, equality and inclusion. I have a strong willingness to contribute to a positive change on campus!
- Work with the career team to ensure we are given the same support as UK students in searching for placement opportunities.
Best piece of advice for international students:
Studying away from home can be very challenging. Having to readjust to a new country and a new language can be stressful. But, communication and positivism is key. Don't be afraid to speak to people. the Students' Union offers a variety of opportunities for you to get involved with. Joining Clubs and Societies will help you to make friends, strengthen your personality and bring the best out of your university experience. This will enable you to gain more than a degree and stand out from the crowd. So, feel free to try them out!

The Role
Your International Rep sits on Students’ Council to make sure that the voices and experiences of international students are heard. They voice any concerns or issues of students from the international students community at Students' Council meetings.
Our Elected Reps lead on Students’ Union campaigns throughout the year, which can include on-campus events, online activities and promotional print.
