About Welcome

Hello from your UCLan Students’ Union!

So what is the Students’ Union you ask? Are they part of the University? Are they a Union? Do I have to pay to join???

To put it simply, we exist to make life better for students. Whether that be by campaigning for change, putting on events or supporting you through your studies, we always put students first and at the heart of our work. From the Course Reps and School Presidents who help shape teaching and learning, or the Advice Centre which supports thousands of students each year, to the Sports Clubs and Societies who provide an opportunity for students to connect and feel part of the student community – your student experience matters to us.

Every student enrolled at UCLan is automatically a member of UCLan Students’ Union, regardless of which campus they’re studying on. There’s no need to sign up and there’s no membership fee!

We work together with students to create a safe, inclusive Union and campus. At the SU, you can grab a bite to eat or drink in our café or newly renovated social space “Lampworks”, socialise with your mates, come for a study break, join a society or sports cub, come to our hundreds of events, campaign for change and just generally enjoy your student life - basically there’s a lot going on here (that’s why we’re situated in heart of Preston Campus)

Carry on reading below for more information on who runs your Union and a little introduction from each of them

The Elected Officers run campaigns to raise awareness of issues and topics and are involved in making decisions alongside senior staff in the University. They have regular meetings with the University’s Vice Chancellor and Vice Chancellor's Group, as well as other key figures and services to get your voices heard at the highest level.

They're elected by students in the annual Students' Union Elections and each Elected Officer has a manifesto, which lists their plans for the year.
